How to Create Pinterest Perfect Graphics for Your Blog

Pinterest is a great (and fun!) tool for potential readers and clients to find you. But how can you utilize Pinterest to get the most clicks through to your website? Great graphics are KEY! Here are some easy things to add to make Pinterest Perfect graphics! And if you want some inspiration, I’m always pinning away fun (and useful!) stuff on my Pinterest Page.

1. Always, Always Include Text

If your goal is to get traffic back to your blog post from your pinned image, adding text is a great way give pinners a peek at what they’ll learn from your article. Sure, you can put it in the Description Field (by adding it to the alternative text when uploading your image) but adding it to the image itself is a much more fool proof way to make sure it’s seen.

2. Use good quality images

This is a biggie! Make sure your images are stellar, whether you’re using graphics or photography. As a rule, most people won’t repin (or probably even click on) pins that aren’t pretty. You can create images using PicMonkey or Canva and find great images free for business use from sites like Death the Stock Photo, UnSplash, Pixabay, or Gratisography. If you’re looking for something more original, you can buy amazing stock photos from Stocksy (my fave!), Creative Market and many other stock photography sites. If you’re handy with a camera, you can obviously take your own for a custom look. Whatever image you choose, make sure it has something to do with the topic you’re writing about. Let there be no question about what sort of article they’re getting when they click on your pin.

3. Make your images horizontally longer

If you’ve spent any time on Pinterest, you’ve probably noticed that images that are longer (instead of wider) get more real estate on the Pin Boards. So, the longer you make your image, the more people will see on Pinterest (though it will get cut off eventually)

4. Match them to your brand

Keeping all of your images branded will help pinners recognize pins from your site. If they’ve already seen (or pinned!) a pin or two from you they may be more likely to click on it to see what else you have to say. Almost like creating a repeat customer…er..repeat pinner. Buy using the same brand elements in all of your image posts it will also make it easier to create new images with each post since you already know what it will look like!

5. Make them fun!

Go ahead! Add some flair! Eye catching images will always get re-pinned more often! You can do this by add graphic elements, having great images (as mentioned above), or adding things like photo overlays. Be creative! Think about what your company and your brand is and how you could best portray that in a fun way on your blog post images.
