When my friend got me in touch with this Mother Daughter team who just bought a well known Candy Shop, I could not have been more excited. I even remember telling her that I love candy and who better to design a logo for a candy shop than ME? Now, that phrase may have been in all caps because I wanted her to know how excited I was over the texts we had been sending each other. And it may have included an obnoxious amount of exclamation points, but kindly refrain from judging me. Obviously, I have no control over myself when dessert of any kind is involved.
Nichole and her mom had some great ideas of how they wanted the logo to look. They were so prepared with a bunch of pictures and ideas they liked and they even had a rough sketch of what they wanted it to look like. While I love coming up with my own ideas from scratch, their ideas were so great and well thought out that it just made it so much fun!
They wanted a fun, bright and bold look for the new logo, but still wanted to keep a bit of the old timey feel. Here’s some of the pictures they sent me for the look they were going for. I loved the chevrons from the beginning. They’re so simple, but have so much pizzaz! And those color choices are awesome too.
We went through a couple rounds of edits for the logo. Here’s a bit of the transition from their sketch to their logo. We started out with just one lollipop in the middle and it just didn’t feel quite right to Nichole. So I tried making the pattern less busy, using different candies and finally using two lollipops instead of just one. You can also see the different typefaces that we tried out. They were all so pretty that I know Nichole and her Mom had a hard time picking which one they liked best.
BUT- since there were new signs to be made and t-shirts (so fun!) to be printed, here’s what they chose:
They repainted the store with these colors when they took over ownership. I’ve visited since then and everything just goes so well together, I love it! It’s so perfect for a cute small town candy shop. Nichole posts all the yummy candy and pretty gift items on their Facebook page daily, so make sure to go check them out! And if you’re ever headed down Interstate 55 in South Missouri stop in St. Genevieve and visit their store (and make sure to eat some chocolate for me). We visited a few weeks ago and while I forgot my nice camera I did get these few pics with my phone. You know I was excited to see my work up on the door of the shop! And on the t-shirts and cup holders and the business cards. Pretty awesome.
